I have 2 neuroma (between 2/3 metatarsal) and between 3/4 metatarsal. I have been injected with a solution for 2 years (3 consecutive months). This provided relief for awhile, but the pain always returned. This summer the pain started and I iced the foot for relief. When I contacted my Podiatrist he informed me we should remove the neuromas, however this surgery is not to remove the nerve condition as he says I will get quite a bit of numbness. His solution is an 1/8" cut over each toe, sever the toes and replace them in ahigher positon so the nerve will not be affected and I will get relief. It seems rather radical as the nerve has quieted somewhat but it always returns. Is this the only relief? Will the pad help? Will I have to wear them forever? I am an extremely active Sr. who plays golf EVERY day, I hate to take the time off and go thru the pain if this is not the best cure. Please advise. Should I get a 2cd opinion?
There are several steps you can try prior to surgery. Orthotics, Sclerosing therapy, and Radio-frequency Ablation should all be attempted prior to neuroma excision. Furthermore while the 3 inter space neuroma is common, the 2 interspace is rare and frequently misdiagnosed. more likely is a capsulitis of the 2 and 3rd metatarsalphalangeal joints.

: : I have this horrible scar on my forth toe. I have been trimming my own corn for years. Now it has a big circular scar, that continues to need trimming because of skin hardening. I want to know if I can get the corn removed along with getting rid of the discolored evidence of the corn scar?
